I’ve just finished reading a study published by the Charities Aid Foundation entitled, The World Giving Index 2010. (http://bit.ly/q4QGme) The United States ranks 5th in the World Giving Index. This index is measured by combining the percentages of those who have given money to a charity, volunteered time for a charity, or helped a stranger. Guess which number is the highest… those who have helped a stranger. 65% of respondents said they had helped a stranger over the previous month.

That’s a lot of Good Samaritans! Say what you will about the moral decay of our society, but Americans are willing to help total strangers. Which got me to thinking… what is a stranger? A stranger is simply someone with whom we don’t have a personal relationship. But, when we provide that stranger assistance, a relationship instantly develops. Now, you have one less stranger in your world!

1213 is striving to form new relationships every day, by helping “strangers” who then become our friends. Join us on our quest to rid our world of strangers and fill our world with friends.
